Important Announcement : Upcoming changes to G Suite pricing
Google is hiking the price of two of its G Suite subscriptions. It’s the first price increase for the services in a decade, the search giant says and it is competing directly with Microsoft’s Office 365. Depending on which plan you’re on, you could see the cost rise by 20-percent.
G Suite Basic will raise prices from $5 per user per month to $6. G Suite Business will go from $10 per user per month to $12. According to Google, G Suite Enterprise, which runs $25 per user a month, isn’t impacted by the price increase. The G Suite price increases are global and go into effect April 2. Google argues that it has tripled the value delivered in G Suite via artificial intelligence, meeting tools and other features and apps.
A few things to note:
- Customers on an annual contract will get new pricing when G Suite renews.
- Current contracts will be honored.
A 20 percent price increase may be hard to swallow for some of our users but it’s also worth remembering that G Suite is now big business for Google. There are now more than 4 million businesses on G Suite, after all, and while some of them are surely on enterprise plans with a price point their teams negotiated privately, the vast majority of them are surely on the standard monthly or annual plans.
